Cape Verde, officially the Republic of Cabo Verde, is an archipelago and island country in the central Atlantic Ocean. Situated in the mid-Atlantic, a 10-strong cluster of islands, a 6-hour flight approximately 2,837 miles from London. Sun-worshippers can enjoy nearly year-round sun, with temperatures in the upper 20°C at pretty much any time of year, with 5 to 9 hours of sunshine a day. Cape Verde is a volcanic island with a rugged landscape alongside it's spectacular beaches, off the eastcoast of Africa, making it perfect for sailing and watersports.

UK health authorities have classified Cape Verde as having a moderate risk of Zika virus transmission. There is also a low risk of malaria in the capital city, Praia (Santiago Island). Most visits to Cape Verde are trouble-free, but you should take sensible precautions against petty crime. Consular support is not available from the British government in Cape Verde as there is no British Embassy.
