The majority of the islands in the archipelago are unoccupied as they are largely made up of coral, especially those in the outer Seychelles. Tourists usually head to the inner islands, usually Mahé, Praslin or La Digue. Mahé is the largest and busiest of the islands, but even here you can still find secluded coves and bays for a more private beach session. The capital, Victoria, is the best spot in Seychelles for nightlife and shopping.
Seychelles is a fantastic place to top up your tan, but there’s also lots of opportunities to stay active too. A variety of watersports are available and the warm water of the Indian Ocean is perfect for them. For those wanted an underwater adventure, you can spot tropical fish and turtles by trying out some diving, snorkelling or fishing.
Prefer to stay on land? No problem! Why not hire a bike or head out on foot to explore the islands along the well-mainted hiking routes, and take in the gorgeous wildlife along the way. You could even try your hand at birdwatching, with the best spot being Cousin Island where there are over 300,000 birds.
Travellers are advised to have accommodation pre-booked before arrival, as it’s unlikely you’ll be able to pass through immigration otherwise. Seychelles is an idyllic, tropical paradise, and a destination that will likely have you booking a return trip in no time!
